Problems
Downloading
If you attempt
to download a file and you get an error, it could be for a number of reasons.
Known
problems:
Problem:
The server
could be busy at the moment.
When this happens,
Netscape Navigator usually (and correctly) displays a message indicating
the the server is busy. Internet Explorer usually displays "The Server
Returned Extended Information".
Solutions:
-
Wait for a few seconds
(or sometimes a few minutes) and try again; it could take several consecutive
attempts to establish a connection.
-
if you are still unsuccessful,
you may have to try at a later time. You may want also to drop a message
to busy@promo.net indicating your local
time and your geographical location. Thanks!

Problem:
Your browser
may not be able to handle redirects
from our download
script.
Our script is
fully compliant with the current Internet Standards as per the RFC 2068
(Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1). Some browsers seem to be not.
If you are using some releases of
Internet Explorer 3.0,
there is a known
bug which affects downloading.
Solutions:
-
Try right-clicking
on the file and choosing Save As or download a new, fixed, version of Internet
Explorer (relases from 3.02 seem to finally following actual Internet Standards
and then might work).
